Juan Herrada

Juan is a globally experienced sustainability leader with a strong track record of designing and delivering clean energy and environmental ventures that create meaningful social and commercial value. As the founder of a sustainability venture studio and a Chartered Environmentalist, he brings deep expertise in project development, blended finance, and systems-level change to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

He has advised governments in South Africa, Kenya, Australia and Indonesia on sustainability investments, led solar-biogas mini-grid initiatives in Kenya, and worked across both the public and private sectors to align diverse stakeholders around impactful solutions. His ability to navigate complex, cross-cultural environments and translate strategy into action has earned him a reputation for delivering results in even the most challenging contexts.

Juan now applies his expertise to support mission-driven organizations and nonprofits in the development and humanitarian sectors. He focuses on designing bold, fundable, and integrated community interventions that tackle interconnected social challenges—while embedding principles of climate resilience, inclusive energy access, and sustainable community development at their core. His work bridges innovation and impact, helping partners unlock funding, scale their vision, and deliver lasting change where it’s needed most.

Jonathan Wesaya

Jonathan Wesaya – Team Leader

Jonathan Wesaya Maina is a dynamic development leader and education reform expert with over 20 years of experience driving impactful programmes across Kenya and the broader East African region. With a strong track record in programme leadership, fundraising, and knowledge management, Jonathan has led large-scale education and development initiatives—from scaling the Discovery Girls Project across 580 schools in 8 counties to providing strategic technical support to global organisations such as Save the Children UK and Nomad Link Kenya.

He brings deep expertise in participatory development, humanitarian response, gender-inclusive education, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. A skilled fundraiser, Jonathan has mobilised resources for transformative education and community empowerment projects, while building strong partnerships across government, donors, and civil society.

Jonathan holds an M.Phil. in Development Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (with Distinction). He was recognised as a 40 Under 40 Men Winner (2016) and commended by President Bill Clinton for his pioneering work in slum education reform.

Mary A. Mumbo

With a strong track record in designing and implementing robust MEL frameworks, James has led high-impact initiatives in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Uganda, working with globally recognized development partners such as USAID, the European Union, Global Affairs Canada, UNDP, and KfW. His work consistently drives data-driven decision-making, accountability, and adaptive management in complex and fragile environments.

James excels in developing and applying tools for quantitative and qualitative research, outcome monitoring, impact assessments, and real-time data visualization. He is highly skilled in leveraging platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, and Python to translate complex datasets into actionable insights. At Africa’s Voices Foundation, he has successfully led over 30 MEL-driven citizen engagement projects, enhancing transparency, stakeholder learning, and service delivery outcomes. He has led rigorous research and evaluation assignments for organizations such as Biovision Africa Trust and People-Centered Solutions, utilizing tools like KoboToolbox, ODK, SPSS, R, and SQL to generate actionable evidence.
